✦ TRUTH PLEASE 2.0
A Personal Testimony. A Mission Larger Than One Man’s Story.
Truth Please 2.0 is a faith-centered examination of marriage, fatherhood, masculine identity, accountability, and what adversity reveals about character. It brings personal testimony into conversation with documentation, research, Scripture, and the discipline of honest self-examination.
TRUTH WITHOUT HATRED • ACCOUNTABILITY WITHOUT VENGEANCE • FAITH THROUGH ADVERSITY • PURPOSE THROUGH THE PAIN
✦ UNDER REVISION
Part 1: A Marriage Remembered
This memoir is temporarily offline while a revised edition is prepared.

WORD OF THE DAY
One word. One reflection. One opportunity to grow.
Explore reflections on faith, character, truth, accountability, healing, and the choices that shape who we become.

✦ WHY THIS EXISTS
Men Need More Than Instructions to Provide. We Need a Formation of Identity.
The culture frequently measures a man by his utility: what he earns, what he produces, what he can repair, and how quietly he can absorb pressure. Provision matters, but a man whose entire identity rests on performance becomes vulnerable to collapse when employment, marriage, health, reputation, or circumstance changes. Scripture offers a more durable foundation—identity rooted in God, leadership expressed through service, strength governed by humility, and responsibility joined with emotional honesty.
The purpose is not to excuse men from responsibility. It is to recover a standard of manhood worthy of it.
✦ THE WORK AHEAD
A Platform for Formation, Repair, and Generational Responsibility.
01 — Identity Before Circumstance
Helping men understand who they are before loss, rejection, unemployment, divorce, or failure attempts to define them.
02 — Intentional Marriage
Treating communication, counseling, emotional maturity, repair, boundaries, forgiveness, and commitment as disciplines practiced before crisis—not emergency measures introduced after collapse.
03 — Present Fatherhood
Calling fathers beyond financial provision toward presence, protection, emotional responsibility, spiritual formation, and the patient work of preserving a child’s relationship with both parents.
04 — Truthful Accountability
Creating room for evidence, context, correction, dignity, and growth at the same time—because defending what is true and examining what belongs to us are compatible responsibilities.
✦ WHAT THE EVIDENCE SHOWS
The Human Cost Is Larger Than Any One Marriage.
Statistics cannot adjudicate an individual relationship, establish anyone’s motives, or substitute for the evidence of a particular case. They can, however, show the scale of marital instability and why prevention, responsible separation, mental-health support, and the protection of parent–child relationships deserve serious attention.
The National Picture
In 2023, the CDC recorded 672,502 divorces and annulments across 45 reporting states and Washington, D.C.—a crude annual rate of 2.4 per 1,000 residents. That is an annual population rate, not a prediction that 2.4 percent of marriages will end. CDC/NCHS source
First and Second Marriages
Federal longitudinal findings vary by cohort and time horizon. In one BLS cohort, 46.0 percent of first marriages and 39.1 percent of post-divorce second marriages had ended in divorce by age 55. In a CDC sample of women ages 15–44, 36 percent of first marriages and 46 percent of second marriages experienced marital disruption within ten years. BLS source · CDC NSFG source
Gottman and Remarriage Estimates
The Gottman Institute reports that more than 60 percent of second marriages end in divorce, compared with approximately 50 percent of first marriages. A 2026 Connected Couples review cites 60–67 percent for second marriages and roughly 73 percent for third marriages. Because no current federal series publishes a directly comparable third-marriage divorce estimate, those figures are identified here as secondary clinical summaries rather than universal national constants. Men During Divorce and Separation
A 2025 meta-analysis of 75 studies across 30 countries, representing at least 100 million men, found that divorced men had 2.82 times the odds of dying by suicide compared with married men—nearly triple. Men who were separated had nearly twice the odds observed among divorced men, suggesting that the immediate aftermath of relationship breakdown may be especially dangerous. These are associations, not proof that divorce alone causes suicide. Psychological Bulletin study
The Intergenerational Effect
A 2026 nationally representative U.S. study found that experiencing parental divorce was associated with a 59 percent higher first-divorce hazard among sons and approximately 36–40 percent higher hazard among daughters. The researchers were equally clear that the pattern is not destiny: strong parent–child relationships, particularly father–child closeness, can be protective. Family Relations study
If You Are in Crisis
If you are struggling after separation, divorce, rejection, or profound loss, asking for help is an act of responsibility—not weakness. Research note: annual rates, cumulative probabilities, marital disruption, hazard ratios, and odds ratios measure different things. They should not be collapsed into one universal “divorce rate,” and none of them determines the outcome of an individual family.
✦ FAITH THROUGH ADVERSITY
Adversity Can Expose a Man Without Being Allowed to Define Him.
Christian faith does not require us to deny suffering or disguise grief as strength. It teaches us to place suffering inside a larger story of formation. When identity is anchored in God, circumstances may change a man’s environment, responsibilities, relationships, and future without acquiring the authority to determine his worth.
“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” — Galatians 6:9

✦ FOR THE MAN WHO FEELS UNSEEN
